Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastian 2015 – 45th edition

The 45th edition of Las Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastian 2015 is just around the corner. The biggest block party in Puerto Rico will be held from Thursday 15 to Sunday, January 18, 2015. This years event will be dedicated to local boxing champion Felix ‘Tito’ Trinidad The San Sebastian 2015 Award is given to Trinidad enhance our puertorriqueñidad forever through their sporting feats and outstanding participation in humanitarian and educational causes to improve the quality of life of the country, and thereby becomes a symbol of the great Puerto Rican heart.

The grand opening festivities will be held on Thursday at 5:00 pm in the Plaza del V Centenario in Old San Juan. The celebration begins with a religious ceremony, followed by a procession of the cabezudos, or “big heads.

Please note these important highlights/recommendations for tourist visiting OSJ:

  • The National Park Services announced that areas of the grounds of Castillo San Felipe del Morro will be closed to the public. This closure will remain in effect each day January 15-19th from 7:00 pm to 5:00 am.
  • All tourists staying in Old San Juan hotels must show a printed voucher or digital mode (cellular or tablet) to gain access to the area.
  • Guests who need to board cruises during those days be aware of the traffic situation and depart to the port earlier.

TRANSPORTATION

Buses

  • Special shuttle service will be available from Thursday to Sunday between Universidad del Sagrado Corazon Tren Urbano Rail Station to Old San Juan.
  • Thursday, Friday and Saturday until 10:00 pm
  • Sunday until 9:00 pm
  • From Old San Juan to Universidad del Sagrado Corazon buses will operate until one hour after the close of business (Thursday trips will be offered until 1:00 am; Friday and Saturday until 2:00 am and Sunday 12:00 to midnight).
  • Bus fees will be $1 per one-way trip, cash only.
  • There will also be buses available from the Roberto Clemente Coliseum for $1.

Train

  • The Tren Urbano will operate on its regular schedule, except the return route that runs from Sagrado Corazon to Bayamón will keep running until the last bus.

Ferry Service Cataño – Old San Juan:

  • Cataño to San Juan 6:00am – 10:00 pm, every day.
  • San Juan to Cataño:
  • Thursday 6:00am- 12:00 midnight
  • Friday and Saturday 6:00am-1:00 am
  • Sunday service will be offered 6:00am-11:00 pm.
  • Ticket price : $0.50
