El Nido is one of the newest restaurants in Old San Juan. El Nido in English means “the nest.” Local mom and pop owners, Vaness and Emilio decided to name their restaurant “the nest” after taking inspiration from a native Caribbean bird called a “Pitirre” which is fiercely protective of its territory. Feeling protective and proud of their homeland, El Nido was a perfect fit. Continuing on the theme of pride in their island, the owners are also committed to featuring and working with local-only brands and products as much as possible to support the local economy.
