Next week (June 28-30) over 10 teams from across the Caribbean will gather in Miami’s Hyatt Regency Hotel for their chance to be crowned winners at the 2013 Taste of the Caribbean, one of the most important culinary competitions in the Caribbean.
Each team represents a different Caribbean island and is composed of chefs, junior chefs, pastry chefs, and bartenders who’ll go head-to-head in culinary, bartending, and pasty competitions.
The Puerto Rico National Culinary Team, defending champions from 2012, are up to renew their title as the Caribbean’s finest in the kitchen and behind the bar. A highlight of the competition will be Taste of the Islands, in which each team presents local street food, served straight to the public!
If you’re in the Miami area next week, help support your local island team in Miami next week (vamos Puerto Rico!). But if you can’t make it to the competition, hit the streets and mosey on over to your local food truck to grab a tripleta (triple decker sandwich) in their honor!
