The 22 edition of the SOFO Culinary Fest, presented by SAL!, is in full swing this weekend in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. The renowned gastronomic event takes place August 14 – 17 and includes live music, fashion shows, artisans as well as the participation of over 40 restaurants to delight the palette in an open-air setting.
Some of the not-to-be-missed local dining establishments include: Parrot Club, Agua Viva, Toro Salao, Café Puerto Rico, Sofía Italian Kitchen, Pirilo Pizza Rústica, Vaca Brava, Raíces, Café Berlín, J Taste, La Madre. Attendees can opt for more formal dinners inside the restaurants, grab-n-go options at the kiosks they’ll be setting up on the streets, or sitting down at the al fresco tables set up across the festival.
This years festivities will feature a fashion show by Lisa Capalli Fashion Show Friday at 8pm, as well as recycling stations across the Old City. SOFO will also feature lion fish as a delicacy this year at 6 different restaurants (Aguaviva, Aldente, Sofia Italian Kitchen , Pizzería Pirilo, Café American and Cueva del Mar) The festival is visited by San Juan residents, island local, and tourists alike, receiving 150,000 attendees and making it one of the Caribbean’s most important culinary events, as well as a date to mark on your calendar!
